Inspired by Greek Mythology, "The Lure of the Lotus-Eaters" draws from the encounter between the Greek hero Odysseus and a unique race of people. These individuals, known as the Lotus-eaters, resided on an enchanting island abundant with captivating lotus flowers. Consumed by the tranquil allure of their surroundings, the Lotus-eaters desired nothing more than to remain on the island, indulging in the euphoria induced by the narcotic effect of the lotus flowers.

In Ann Pickett's artwork, viewers are invited to immerse themselves in a mesmerizing realm. Taking in the serene hues and enchanting lines, the painting provides a remarkable avenue for escapism. Pickett's creation becomes a portal through which one can lose oneself, momentarily, to a world where worries and responsibilities fade away, and  tranquility takes hold just like the Lotus-eaters of the ancient myth.
This painting is originally made in 36" x 36" dimension, acrylic on birch cradled wood panel. Embellished giclee and commissioned work available upon request.
A fine art giclee print is a high-quality reproduction of an original artwork, made using a specialized inkjet printer and designed to capture the fine details and textures of the original. Learn more about the giclee process.
